Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 16 (ANI): Amid rising COVID-related deaths in Maharashtra, a Muslim graveyard in Mumbai has put up a hoarding outside, warning people of its closure due to a shortage of land to bury bodies.
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has received his second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.
The veteran star took to Instagram on Sunday to share a photo where he can be seen taking the jab on his left arm.
The 78-year-old actor called his second dose “doosra” (second), comparing it with doosra in cricket (a type of delivery by an off-spin bowler) and apologised for cracking a poor joke.
Taking to his blog, Bachchan also spoke about his donations to the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and city hospitals amid the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The work though on the care fronts continues and happily I was able to deliver the first lot of 10 ventilators to the desired locations .. the Municipal Corporation of the City and 3 Hospitals and one clinic .. the balance 10 that I have ordered should be in in a few days and they too shall be distributed to care centres and Hospitals in dire need,” Bachchan wrote in his blog early on Sunday.

Cyclonic storm Tauktae has intensified into a “very severe cyclonic storm, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday morning. Cyclone Tauktae is likely to cross the Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) around early morning on May 18.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation shifted 580 patients from Covid care centres in the city as a precautionary measure after India Meteorological Department warned that Cyclone Tauktae is likely to pass close to the city, a BMC official said on Sunday.
The BMC on Saturday night shifted 580 patients from BKC (243), Dahisar (183) and Mulund (154) jumbo Covid care facilities to state and civic-run hospitals in Mumbai, the official said.

India s western coastal states Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala witnessed heavy rain on Saturday and small hours of Sunday as Cyclone Tauktae made its way toward Gujarat.
On Saturday night, the storm was around 220 km south- southwest of Panaji and 590 km south-southwest of Mumbai, resulting in heavy rainfall, gusty winds and thunderstorms in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai’s civic body, moved 580 patients from Covid care centres in the city after the Indian Meteorological Department warned that the cyclone is likely to pass close to the city.
