BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cancelled vaccination drive on Monday in view of the cyclone warning.
Vaccination was not carried out over the weekend and will not be held on Monday too for the same reason. The civic body had decided to allow walk-in facility for senior citizens at vaccination centres between Monday and Wednesday. Since vaccination has been suspended on Monday, the schedule for the same has been revised from Tuesday to Thursday. The BMC has also said only healthcare workers and frontline workers will be eligible for second dose of Covishield in view of government decision to fix 12-16 week time gap for the doses.
Mumbai on Sunday reported 1,544 fresh coronavirus positive cases following testing of 22,430 samples, the lowest such number so far this month, the city civic body said. A total of 60 patients died, taking the overall count of COVID-19 fatalities in Mumbai to 14,260, it said. Mumbai s tally of cases now stands at 6,88,696. On Saturday, Mumbai reported 1,447 coronavirus positive cases after 24,896 samples were tested. With 22,430 new tests, the total number of samples tested so far in Mumbai has risen to 58,98,605, as per the update given by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The number of daily fatalities in Mumbai remained more or less the same. Mumbai s death count remained in the range of 51 to 90 so far this month, it said.

Government authorities prepared to evacuate thousands of people from low-lying areas along its western coast as a powerful cyclone is expected to make landfall on Tuesday morning in Gujarat.
India s western coastal states Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala witnessed heavy rain on Saturday and small hours of Sunday as Cyclone Tauktae made its way toward Gujarat.
Cyclone Tauktae, which formed in the Arabian sea, is expected to cross Gujarat with wind gusts of up to 175 kmph (109 mph) and is expected to make landfall in the state the following morning.
