BREWSTER – The number of COVID cases and logistics have prompted Brewster Fire Department officials to cancel this year s firemen s festival.
it was a tough decision to forgo the annual event for a second year, but they are erring on the side of caution, said Chief Chris Colucy. Personally I just don t want to be responsible if something happens to somebody (after attending our festival), he said.
The four-day event traditionally held at the end of May includes amusement rides, food vendors, a parade, 5k run and fireworks.
When discussions first began about the festival, Stark County Health Department officials wouldn t give the group permission to hold the event, Colucy said.
