On April 12 th, 2021, a conference was held with the students of the Faculty of Political and International Sciences of the LUMSA University in Rome, with the participation of the Embassy Counsellor Fausto Panebianco, Coordinator of the G7 and G20 Sherpa Office at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The meeting aimed at reflecting on the priorities of the Italian Presidency of the G20, and is part of the cycle of seminars “Politics and Policy LUMSA Colloquia”, an initiative of the Roman University supporting the launch of the new master’s degree course in “Policies, Administration and Innovation”, which aims to provide training of excellence for responsibility tasks within institutions, associations and organizations, in order to tackle the current socio-political and intergenerational challenges.

The Governments of Peru and the United States on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will enable the development of joint actions for the modernization of the Peruvian forestry sector through sustainable, inclusive, responsible, and profitable economic growth. Besides, it will increase the impact and efficiency of initiatives aimed at combating illegality, strengthening forest governance and the relationship with the private sector, as well as promoting an inclusive market. Said document was signed by Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez, USAID/Peru Mission Director Jene Thomas, as well as Ministers Waldo Mendoza (Economy and Finance), Federico Tenorio (Agrarian Development and Irrigation), Gabriel Quijandria (Environment), and Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI) Executive-Director Jose Antonio Gonzalez.

La Libertad region s COVID-19 Command on Wednesday agreed to request a total quarantine for 15 days for Trujillo Province, in order to reduce the high levels of contagion and lethality due to coronavirus, which are registered in the northern region s capital. The government official will visit the northern city to meet with local and regional authorities. Likewise, it was decided to request a larger supply of Pfizer vaccines for La Libertad, based on the storage capacity the region has for the deep freezers available. Figures During this meeting, the person in charge of Epidemiology at the Regional Health Directorate, Ana María Burga, indicated that out of every 100 tests 35 are positive for COVID-19, adding that there is an average of 315 new infections every day.
