A lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University(KTU) Dr Samuel Afriyie has described late Former President Jerry John Rawlings as an institution the country should not forget his track records.
According to Dr Afriyie, Ghana could not have gotten to this level of development without the involvement of former President Jerry John Rawlings who raised the curtains of the fourth republic.
Dr Samuel Afriyie indicates that Mr Rawlings became President for the ordinary Ghanaian which is a difficult strategy for the majority of Africa leaders to adopt.

The body the late former President, who rose to the rank of Flight Lieutenant and a pilot in the Ghana Air Force, was dressed in Ghana Air Force ceremonial uniform (light blue) with his badges and medals pinned to his breathless chest.
The coffee-brown coffin, which contains the remains of the former President, is placed on a catafalque, surrounded by white flowers, propped on a red carpet with a glass screen to aid public viewing.
A source at the Ministry of Information told the Ghana News Agency that as a former Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, his body will be guarded by four catafalque guards, which consist of colonels.

A close confidant of the late Former President, Jerry John Rawlings, Dr. Akofa Segbefia has indicated that the late president was very pained when the country’s political system was monetized.
Dr. Segbefia noted that in 1992, there was nothing like the buying of votes and delegates but all that changed in the 2000s and that did not sit well with the late President J.J Rawlings.
The Social Commentator in an interview with Samuel Eshun on a special edition of the Happy Morning Show, celebrating the funeral rites of J.J Rawlings said, “In 1992, there was nothing like monetization, buying delegates etc. in our body politics. But 2000 was the time we started introducing money into our politics and that didn’t sit well with him”.
