The Cuban Trained Ghanaian Graduates Association (ESBECAN) has commended the late former President Jerry John Rawlings for fostering a good relationship with the people of Cuba that led to the training of rich manpower for the country.
They said there were thousands of professionals trained in Cuba who were making huge impacts and differences in the country and said Ghana’s association and close ties with Cuba should be maintained and improved.
The President of the association, Alhaji Musah Swallah, said this when the Esbecans held a candlelight vigil and memorial service to celebrate the life of the late former President Rawlings for his great vision which had impacted on the lives of members of the association.

The Cuban Trained Ghanaian Graduates Association (ESBECAN) have lauded the efforts of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings in promoting a good relationship between Ghana and Cuba which has resulted in the training of rich human resources for the country.
The ESBECANS are part of over 2,000 Ghanaian students who have benefitted from Government scholarships to study in Cuba and noted that the professionals are one of the many legacies of the late president.
At a vigil in honour of the late former President Rawlings, National President of ESBECAN, Alhaji Musah Swallah, noted that there is no sector in the country, that cannot boast of a Cuban-trained professional.
Preparations for the interment of former President Jerry John Rawlings at the new Military Cemetery at Burma Camp in Accra has commenced, with the construction of the tomb and some decorations in the yard.
The former President will be buried on Wednesday, January 27, this year at the cemetery which is now designated as the burial ground for former Heads of State in the country.
This will be after burial service at the Black Star Square in Accra on the same day.
The event would be led by the Ghana Armed Forces.
When the Daily Graphic visited the cemetery in the La Dadekotopon Municipality in the Greater Accra Region yesterday, work was ongoing, including the clearing of weeds and painting of pavements.
