SJ School Board Comments On Return To Learn Plan

The St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education has outlined for the community its return to learn plan for the fall. Reading a statement during this week’s meeting, board President Barry Conybeare said the plan is to be flexible in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Transmission rates in the county and within the community of St. Joseph Public Schools are currently low,” Conybeare read. “If they remain low, then we have high confidence that the upcoming school year will look and feel very much like a normal school year.” Conybeare said the plan is for a return to in-person learning. A virtual option will be offered to those who want it, and the schools will be ready to go back to virtual learning if needed. How about vaccines?

St Joseph School Board Approves Contract With New Superintendent

April 13, 2021 The St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education has approved a contract with new superintendent Jennifer Fee. The board unanimously approved the three-year agreement during a special meeting Tuesday. It calls for a base salary of $158,000. Board President Barry Conybeare says Fee will start as superintendent on July 1, and the board is “looking forward to her leadership in ensuring high levels of learning and well-being for all at SJPS.” Fee was selected by the board from an applicant pool of nineteen. She’s currently the assistant superintendent for instruction at the East Grand Rapids Public School District. She’s also been the high school principal, the assistant principal, and a teacher.
