President for global voice to protect languages, cultures 299 DHAKA, Feb 20, 2021 (BSS) – President Md Abdul Hamid today laid special emphasize on raising global voice for protecting the language and culture of all ethnic groups, including development of respective mother tongue and culture. “Many languages in the world are now at the risk of extinction. The extinction of a language means disappearance of a culture, a nation and a civilization from the face of the earth, ” the president said in his message on the eve of the Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day 2021. The head of the state extended his warm congratulations and sincere felicitations to the people and ethnic groups of different languages of the world along with Bengali -speaking people.

Star file photo Star Online Report Star Online Report One hundred and one lawyers of the Supreme Court today sent a letter to President Md Abdul Hamid, requesting him to constitute a Supreme Judicial Council to probe allegations of financial corruption and gross misconduct against chief election commissioner (CEC) and other election commissioners and to remove them from their posts.   In the letter, they urged the president against keeping KM Nurul Huda as CEC and asked for the responsibility of CEC to be given to an election commissioner during the enquiry.
