CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 4 (PIA) Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones has received some 2,000 smart tablets from Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian during a turnover ceremony in Malacañang on Tuesday.
Huang said Huawei brand tablets will be used to assist Filipino students and support the blended distance learning system in the country.
The donation, to assist Filipino students and support the blended distance learning system in the country, was witnessed by Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert Eric Borje and DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan in Malacañang.
Huang said the donation is intended to help the Philippine students to overcome difficulties and to get better access to distance learning resources amid the pandemic.

With the recent donations turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd), students who are in dire need of learning gadgets will be receiving gadgets that they can use under the distance learning set-up.

In less than a week, DepEd received over 7,000 learning gadgets to be distributed to students in public schools who might be struggling due to the challenges in distance or blended learning brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country.

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte expressed confidence that the “strengthened” health cooperation between the Philippines and China would hasten the two nations’ economic recovery.
Duterte made the remarks during his meeting with Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi at Malacañan Palace in Manila on Saturday afternoon.
