The Southeast Governors’ Forum yesterday appealed to secessionists in the zone to give it six months to negotiate solutions to their grievances with the Federal Government.
The chairman of the forum, Dave Umahi, made the plea at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday while featuring on the regular Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team.
He said he, alongside his colleagues in the zone, had asked the youths to present their demands “in prints and hand over to us.”
He said the failure of past governments to properly deal with the issue of marginalization gave rise to the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday said it will be a dangerous game not to hold elections in the South East geo-political zone in 2023 because of the current burning of offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the region.
Umahi, who is Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, said this while featuring on the press briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the State House in Abuja.
The governor noted that some of the youths had been indoctrinated by the activities of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) which opposed the conduct of elections in the zone in 2023.
