Christian Rivers, 27, took to the stand at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday as the Alison McBlain murder trial entered day three. Ms McBlain 36, was walking with Mr Rivers in King Street, Blackburn, on November 19 2019, when they were hit by the car, which was driven at them in a revenge attack over some stolen drugs. Mr Rivers survived the collision but Ms McBlain died in hospital two days later.
PARENTS of a teenager who was stabbed last week have appealed for “calm, love, peace and prayers” as they paid tribute to their son. Sarmad Al-Saidi, 16, was found with stab injuries to his chest and legs when police were called to a house in Chatham Place in Preston at about 5.45pm on Wednesday (December 23). He remained in critical condition over the Christmas weekend before dying in hospital on Sunday. His parents said: “We are absolutely devastated by the sudden loss of our beloved son. “Sarmad was very family-oriented and was very close to his two brothers, who miss him dearly.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said Jamie Dixon, 18, of Clayton Avenue, Leyland, and two boys aged 16 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Monday charged with his murder.
The three were remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday.
A 20-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Preston, and a 36-year-old woman from Leyland were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but have since been released under investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Lee Wilson said: This incident has resulted in a young man losing his life and my thoughts are very much with Sarmad s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
