Auditor provides monthly update to commission

EATON Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright presented the Preble County Board of Commissioners her financial report for February during their meeting on Monday, March 8.
According to Wright, during the month, general fund receipts totaled $725,561.99. The county’s general fund began 2021 with a cash balance of $6,777,010.07 and ended February at $6,525,479.05.
Sales tax revenue for February totaled $534,479.47 (collected from December sales.) Local taxation came in at $35,742.50, charges for services $77,372.63, interest $13,176.19 and fines and forfeitures, $612.05.
Wright explained to the board the next casino tax revenue would come in April. The one-mill conveyance fee receipts totaled $11,886.50.
Health department levy fails certification

PREBLE COUNTY A recent health levy brought forth by Preble County General Health District failed certification for the May primaries after discovery of a “fatal error” by the Preble County Board of Elections.
The tax levy, which was a 0.6 mil replacement with an increase, was certified by Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright after a meeting on Monday, Feb. 1. The Preble County Board of Commissioners then noted receipt of the levy on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 3, before the deadline later in the day to get issues on the May ballot.
Auditor updates commission on county finances

EATON Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright met with Preble County Board of Commissioners on Monday, Feb. 8, to present her monthly financial report for the county.
According to Wright, during the month of January, General Fund revenue receipts totaled $887,763.20. This was an increase of just over $20,000 from 2020.
Revenue included sales tax of $563,162.45 from November sales (up $84,793.20 over November 2020;) local taxation in the amount of $36,991.80; charges for services in the amount of $63,524.80 (up by $2,882.56;) and interest in the amount of $45,200.26 (down by $33,041.02.)
Preble County’s share in the Casino Tax came in at $118,674.56, which surprised Wright.
