Eligible community members can book appointment for COVID-19 vaccine soon Dec 31, 2020 Doha Community members eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to call to book an appointment or to do that online soon, according to a post on Qatar Media Corporation’s Twitter handle @covid19qatar. “Vaccinations at health centres will only be given to people with pre-arranged appointments and all other community members who do not meet the criteria for the early phase of the campaign are kindly requested to wait until it is their turn,” the tweet said. It said the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is working with the pharmaceutical companies to ensure the next shipment of vaccines arrives in Qatar as early as possible in 2021.

Covid-19 hotline received 1 7 million calls since launch

 30 Dec 2020 - 19:37 QNA Doha: The free hotline 16000, dedicated to coronavirus (Covid-19) inquiries, received about 1.7 million calls since it was launched by the Ministry of Public Health in March. The hotline was launched with the aim of answering public’s questions and inquiries related to Covid-19, in addition to enabling the public and healthcare staff to access main health care services provided by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC). The hotline, which operates round the clock seven days a week, received more than 552,000 calls to request information or services related to COVID-19. While the rest of the calls were distributed to the other services provided by the line, a number of people with COVID-19 were able to contact the hotline to obtain urgent and quick care, which helped during the peak of the pandemic to facilitate the process of classifying cases and directing them to home quarantine or isolation facilities. QRCS expands humanitarian outreach during 2020 [EN/AR] Format ― Doha: During 2020, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) redoubled its efforts to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, mobilizing all its resources to relieve the socioeconomic and health impacts on the vulnerable groups in Qatar and around the world. QRCS intensified its medical, social, protective, informative, and voluntary activities locally and, at the same time, worked with fellow National Societies National Societies in many host countries to protect their people against the outbreak. In its capacity as a humanitarian auxiliary to the State of Qatar and an active member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, QRCS carried out many relief interventions in response to natural disasters in Lebanon, Sudan, and the Philippines, among others. It continued to back sustainable development plans at the host communities and had strong presence on the humanitarian diplomacy and advocacy front.
