The measures adopted by the Peruvian Government in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country seek a balance between the family economy and health of people, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez reported on Thursday.
In remarks to America Television channel, Bermudez noted that the new provisions announced on Wednesday were adopted based on the different realities of territories, putting regions into three alert levels: moderate alert, high alert, and very high alert.
According to the Cabinet chief, the measures have been introduced while the vaccines whose first batch has been secured arrive.

15:27 | Lima, Jan. 13. The Government seeks to avoid an extreme confinement in the face of a new COVID-19 outbreak registered in Peru, the President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti affirmed on Wednesday.
The Head of State noted that the pandemic has affected each region differently. Based on the current indicators, the Government has defined in which areas to establish alerts.
These are moderate, high and, very-high levels, based on the incidence of the disease and the conditions in which medical attention is provided. The measures will vary in accordance with each level, top official said.

LIMA, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) Peruvian officials on Wednesday warned citizens not to lower their guard against COVID-19 amid a second wave of infections.
At a press conference, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez urged the public to continue complying with sanitary measures established by the Ministry of Health, including using face masks, social distancing, hand washing and avoiding large gatherings.
Bermudez expressed concern over more relaxed social behavior during the year-end holidays, as the COVID-19 cases amounted to 1,012,614.
Also present at the conference was Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti, who warned of pandemic fatigue weakening control measures, and called on the population to comply with recommendations to avoid reunions and gatherings for New Year s Eve.
