Published July 30, 2021 2:57pm The Philippine Daily Inquirer on Friday issued an apology to Super Radyo dzBB anchorman Melo del Prado over its 2014 reports claiming he benefitted from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), or pork barrel, scam. “The Philippine Daily Inquirer apologizes to Mr. Melo del Prado, broadcaster of dzBB Radio-GMA Network, for the articles published on March 19, March 20 and March 21, 2014, that reported that he benefitted from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), more popularly known as pork barrel, of some lawmakers by way of advertising funds that were coursed through the National Agri-business Corp. (Nabcor),” the Inquirer said in a statement posted on its website.

Published July 8, 2021 8:24am The Office of the Ombudsman will no longer appeal Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. s acquittal of 16 graft charges in relation to the pork barrel scam. In a statement on Thursday, the office said this is in accordance with Ombudsman Samuel Martires policy of no longer challenging the dismissal of cases/quashal of information and judgments of acquittal. Consistent with the defendant’s constitutional right against double jeopardy, Ombudsman Samuel Martires sets the policy of no longer challenging the dismissal of cases/quashal of information and judgments of acquittal, either through a motion to dismiss, a demurrer to evidence or by a decision, rendered by the trial courts or the Sandiganbayan except when the People was clearly deprived of due process or there was mistrial, the statement said.

The Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) will not appeal the July 1 Sandiganbayan decision that acquitted Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. of 16 graft charges involving his P224.5 million in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
In a statement, the OMB said: “The Office of the Ombudsman has rested its case against Revilla. The Sandiganbayan First Division voted 3-2 to grant Senator Revilla’s demurrer to evidence, and we respect its decision.”
It also said:
“Consistent with the defendant’s constitutional right against double jeopardy, Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires sets the policy of no longer challenging the dismissal of cases [or] quashal of information and judgments of acquittal, either through a motion to dismiss, a demurrer to evidence or by a decision, rendered by the trial courts or the Sandiganbayan except when the People was clearly deprived of due process or there was mistrial.”
