Covid-19 unrest: youth parties demand government action

In response to the coronavirus pandemic and the riots in St Gallen, the youth branches of five Swiss political parties are calling on the government to provide better prospects.

On Monday they published an open letter [pictured below] demanding that young people have more of a say in crisis management. It was signed and posted online by the leaders of a range of parties asking for an exchange with the executive branch of the federal government.

The Daily s questions on the nature of the departures. It comes after current and former staff anonymously raised concerns about bullying at the hospital. In December last year UnitingCare confirmed an internal review found no demonstrable evidence to support the allegations.

Minuteâs silence and church bells announced for Covid victims

Everyone in Switzerland has been invited to observe a minuteâs silence on Friday for the more than 9,000 people who have died in connection with Covid-19. Afterwards, church bells will ring across the country.

The national minuteâs silence will take place at exactly 11.59am, the economics ministry said in a statementExternal link on Wednesday. At noon the three national churches will ring their church bells in joint commemoration.
