The Duke of Cambridge has called for racist abuse aimed at footballers to stop, calling it despicable .
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was the latest player subjected to racist abuse this weekend after a series of incidents.
On Sunday, Greater Manchester Police began an investigation into the abuse.
, Prince William, who is also the president of the Football Association, praised those who had spoken out.
He said: Racist abuse - whether on the pitch, in the stands, or on social media - is despicable and it must stop now.

England s Premier League has urged social media organisations to do more to combat racism following online abuse directed at the Manchester United duo of Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial and West Brom s Romaine Sawyers this week.
West Brom contacted police after Sawyers was sent a racist message during Tuesday s 5-0 loss to Manchester City, while the United pair came under attack following a shock defeat by Premier League basement club Sheffield United on Wednesday. I am appalled to see the racial abuse received by players this week, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said Friday.

Doctors already test players for possible concussion when they suffer a suspected head injury
The Premier League will trial the use of concussion substitutes from Saturday, 6 February.
The new rule means up to two permanent substitutions can be made in the event of head injuries, even if all replacements have already been used.
Opposition teams will also be able to make an additional normal substitution at a time of their choice.
The first match of the trial is scheduled to be the 12:30 GMT kick-off between Aston Villa and Arsenal.
ENGLAND manager Gareth Southgate is taking part in a study looking at the potential links between dementia and playing the game, and has called on other former professionals to join him.
Southgate, 50, has volunteered to be part of the Heading study at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, which is backed by the Football Association (FA) and funded by the Drake Foundation.
The potential link between increased risk of neurodegenerative disorder and a career in the game has been highlighted again in recent months following confirmation of England World Cup winner Sir Bobby Charlton’s dementia diagnosis, along with the death of his brother Jack and their 1966 teammate Nobby Stiles, who had both been suffering with dementia when they died.
