End Child Poverty report claims thousands of Barrow children are in poverty

According to analysis by the end Child Poverty Coalition, the figure risen over the last five years. A report said that 29 per cent of children in the borough were living in poverty, equating to around 3,500 children. The figure has rise by 0.5 per cent over the last five years, according to data. Barrow s MP Simon Fell said he was working to improve the fortunes of children in the area. The estimations are based on the percentage of children living in households with below 60 per cent of the median income in a given area. The research was carried out by Dr Juliet Stone and Professor Donald Hirsch at the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University.

Legal aid is more accessible to more people in need, and the work is marginally more financially viable for solicitors. Richard Miller Don’t get me wrong, there are still huge challenges, not least the fundamental issue of the lack of economic sustainability of the system. There will be no let-up in pressure on the government to address the serious problems that still exist.
