Families throughout the Great Lakes region have ample access to fresh, local produce at their favorite grocers like Heinen’s, Buehler’s and Wal-Mart, thanks, in large part, to Ohio Apples. Ohio Apples has rebranded as Fresh Forward in a move that reflects the strategic expansion of its farmer member base. In recent years, this membership has grown beyond Ohio to include orchards and farms across Pennsylvania, Michigan and Virginia that offer a seasonal selection of fruits and vegetables.
The new brand, Fresh Forward, and tagline, “Harvested from Great Lakes Farms,” better represent the regionality of both the farmers and the families it serves.
Did you know that January is National Soup Month? Seems quite appropriate considering there’s nothing better than some warm, savory soup on a cold, wintry day. Am I right or am I right?
Not only is soup relatively easy to make and prepare ahead of time, but it is also super versatile, jam-packed with good-for-you veggies, and a definite crowd-pleaser.

When it comes to Detroit’s produce scene, few names have earned the success and respect that Rocky Produce does, and a lot of hard work has gone into building the exceptional reputation the company enjoys.
The Rocky Produce team.
“We have a great team, we work together well, that’s probably the No. 1 thing, and aside from that, we have great grower-shipper partners that believe in the value of working for us and who appreciate the job we do,” said Dominic Russo of the Detroit-based company. “And we appreciate what they do for us, and those relationships have been cultivated over many years. And it’s common that we find new relationships and have new programs to reinforce what we already have.”
