A New York entrepreneur with Berkshire County ties has launched a new sparkling wine canned cocktail called Champé.
Champé Handcrafted Berkshire Bubbly, the brainchild of DJ DiBuono of Troy, NY, is the latest canned cocktail to hit the market, but this one is made right here in The Berkshires. DiBuono, who has family ties to The Berkshires, reached out to local winery Hilltop Orchards amidst the pandemic. He was looking for a partner to produce and can his product, and it seemed to be a great fit, DiBuono told Spectrum News.
At 5% ABV, 140 Calories, and no added sugars, the sparkling cocktail brags that they offer more flavor and less guilt than traditional sparkling wine cocktails.
PITTSFIELD â Methuselah Bar & Lounge was hit with a two-day license suspension Monday, after the Licensing Board weighed several complaints about COVID-19 safety at Councilor Yuki Cohenâs North Street establishment over the past several months.
With member Dina Guiel Lampiasi abstaining, the other Licensing Board members â Thomas Campoli, Richard Stockwell, Kathleen Amuso and Dennis Powell â voted unanimously in favor of suspending the liquor license Feb. 2 and 3.
The vote came after members finished a âshow causeâ hearing with Cohen, the at-large councilor, her attorney and the cityâs senior sanitarian, Andy Cambi.
Much of Mondayâs hearing, a continuation of the âshow causeâ hearing that began Jan. 15, was spent discussing the evening of Oct. 30, which was the subject of the third COVID-19 safety citation the city has issued to Cohen.
PITTSFIELD, Mass. Methuselah Bar and Lounge is being fined $1,000 for two COVID-19 violations and the City Council voted to refer the tavern to the Licensing Board for a show cause hearing over multiple complaints submitted to the Board of Health. Owner Yuki Cohen, also a councilor at large, told The Berkshire Eagle she will contest the fines. Cohen insists she has not violated regulations put in place to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus and said she is receiving hate mail claiming the tavern is the source of the recent outbreak in Pittsfield. Methuselah was named as one of several locations to which positive cases were traced; Cohen had voluntarily closed for two weeks because of the COVID-19 exposure.
