(Shutterstock) BROCKTON, MA The Massachusetts Appeals Court has reversed an order of suppression allowed by a Brockton District Court Judge in a local drug case, according to a news release from Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz. The charges against Francis Santos, 31, are the result of drugs found during the execution of a search warrant at a Brockton apartment, said DA Cruz. Santos filed a motion to suppress the evidence, arguing that the search warrant was issued without probable cause, said the news release. The motion was allowed by Brockton District Court Judge Julie Bernard in July 2019.

Troopers arrest wanted man with stolen firearm, fentanyl

January 11, 2021 10:35 pm BROCKTON, Mass. (WLNE) – A wanted-Whitman man was arrested on Saturday after he was found with a stolen firearm and fentanyl in Brockton. A Massachusetts State Trooper observed a red SUV driving with no headlights or taillights on Pleasant Street just before 1 a.m. on Saturday. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver, Miguel Santiago, 33, was driving with a suspended license. Additionally, Santiago had an active warrant for his arrest issued by Brockton District Court. Santiago was placed under arrest, and a search of his vehicle was conducted. According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers found $4,000 in cash along with cell phones, and other items troopers believed to have been used in the sale or distribution of illegal drugs.

BROCKTON The city s trial court will be closed Wednesday after an employee who worked in the courthouse on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19 the same day. The Executive Office of the Trial Court said Brockton District Court would be closed on Wednesday for disinfecting with plans to reopen Thursday morning. An employee who was last at the courthouse on 12/29 has tested positive for COVID-19, the office s website states. Other courts at Brockton s Covett Courthouse remain open. State officials didn t release any other information about the positive case, including whether the employee showed up for work with symptoms of the coronavirus or when the person was tested.
