To mark International Womenâs Day 2021, the S&D Group held a two-day online event
: Covid-19: Overcoming new Challenges to Gender Equality, organised in the frame of the Sixth Progressive Youth Forum, in co-operation with our partners PES Women, FEPS, FES, YES and EWL.

Following a day of workshops on Thursday for young people, the S&D MEPs working on gender equality issues and the EU Commissioner for equality, Helena Dalli, discussed today on how to tackle the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis on women, and better build back gender equality.
The S&Ds sounded the alarm: a year since the start of the pandemic, we have increasing evidence showing that the Covid-19 crisis threatens to jeopardise decades of gains achieved in gender equality, because women are dropping out of the labour market, and traditional gender roles are being reinforced. “Since the very beginning of the vaccination campaign in Europe, we have heard questionable excuses from pharmaceutical companies trying to justify their failure to respect agreed commitments and live up to EU citizens’ expectations. This is not acceptable. Europe has paid for these vaccines in advance with public money and we demand that companies respect the agreements. Every single day of delay is a failure for our health and the economic recovery.”

The S&D Group sent a clear message to pharmaceutical CEOs this week, calling on companies to increase the production of vaccines and look at future challenges with new variants and strains.
We Are Unaware of Efforts Made By Buhari In Tackling Insecurity, Says APYF

The All Progressive Congress, APC,on the platform of the All Progressive Congress Youth Forum,(APYF) has said the group is unaware of the efforts being made by the government in tackling Security Issues.
The Group said, the lethargic attitude of Buhari towards particularly the issue of security is leading many to conclude that APC’s administration is a leaderless one and also “nobody is in charge” administration.
This was contained in a statement by the All Progressive Youth Forum (APYF) signed by its Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Abdullahi.
