2021 Citroen C5 X has been officially revealed – and it could come to Australia.
Twin under the skin to Peugeot s 508 sedan and wagon, the new, third-generation C5 is the latest in a long line of flagship Citroen models (though this time there s no full-size C6 to sit above it) – albeit with a twist.
Whereas the outgoing C5 (last sold in Australia in 2016) was offered in conventional, low-riding sedan and Touring wagon body styles, the new C5 X follows market trends by opting for a high-riding, SUV-inspired wagon body style, in the same vein as the Audi A4 Allroad, Subaru Outback, and upcoming Ford Evos.
The C5 Aircross is available in two variants - Feel and Shine. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 174 BHP and 400 Nm.
Citroen has announced the prices for the C5 Aircross. The SUV is being offered in two variants - Feel and Shine, with prices starting at Rs. 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The C5 Aircross is based on the PSA EMP2 platform. It measures 4,500 mm in length, 2,099 mm in width, 1,710 mm in height and its wheelbase is 2,730 mm. The car s boot capacity is 580 litres, which can be expanded to 1,630 litres by folding the rear seats down.
The SUV comes equipped with LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps and 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. On the inside, the C5 Aircross gets features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, Comfort Seats, electrically adjustable driver seat, 2-zone automatic climate control and panoramic sunroof, among others.
Engine & Powertrain
The new Citroen C5 Aircross SUV boasts of the latest and most fuel-efficient diesel engine. It is mated to a highly refined 8-speed Automatic Gearbox delivering 177 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque for extremely comfortable journeys and maximising driving pleasure. The efficient and refined Stop-Start function is designed for increased fuel efficiency and environmental consciousness. With class-leading fuel efficiency at 18.6 km, the gearbox provides incredibly smooth shifts between gears, making it a real pleasure to drive. The driver can also change gears manually if they want to, using the Steering Wheel Mounted Paddles, shifting seamlessly between Automatic and Manual modes.
