Confusion over Muiz Banire s report as APC inaugurates eight-member constitutional review committee

Share The All Progressives Congress Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee has inaugurated an eight-member committee to review its constitution. National Secretary of the APCECPC, James Akpan Udoedehe, inaugurated the team which has Professor Tahir Mamman, (SAN) as Chairman. It has a one-month timeline to submit its recommendations. Tribune Online checks revealed that a similar Committee led by a former National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, was saddled with a similar assignment by a former national chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun in 2017. Further checks revealed that while submitting the report of his 10-man Committee, Banire who incidentally served in the APC National Working Committee under Chief Oyegun told newsmen that his Committee proposed 85 amendments to the APC Constitution.

APC describes fuel queues as result of panic buying

Share The All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has dismissed the harrowing experience of Nigerians at fuel retail outlets across the country as needless and self-inflicted. National Secretary of the CECPC, Senator John Akpan Udoedehe, in a statement said the “leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in touch with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, H.E. Timipre Sylva and the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari over the fuel queues noticed in some parts of the country.” It claimed there was no shortfall in supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and further claimed that “it is an artificial fuel scarcity.”

In attendance at the meeting held at the party national secretariat were immediate past governor of the North-West State, Abdul Aziz Yari, former governor, Mahmud Shinkafi and Senator Kabiru Marafan amongst other chieftains. The Zamfara State chapter of the party has been polarised into factions owing to power tussle between Yari and Senator Marafan. The primaries conducted by the party was adjudged invalid by the Independent National Electoral Commission which precluded APC from fielding candidates for the 2019 general elections.
