Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Usman has warned supporters of candidates in the Magama/Rijau Federal constituency rerun, saying adequate security has been put in place for the successful conduct of the February 6th polls.
Usman who stated this in Minna, said his officers and men would be drafted to provide adequate security during and after the election.
He also urged aspirants contesting for the federal constituency seat to admonish their supporters on the need to desist from any act that may disrupt the exercise or cause breach of peace.
” The Niger State Police Command hereby reiterates its readiness to provide adequate security before, during and after the election and has employed measures towards ensuring a peaceful conduct of the election”

Last week, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took it upon itself to train officials that would superintend the revalidation of its members. It was like a cat and mouse game before the party’s stakeholders agreed to the process. This is because of the suspicion that certain interests were out to hijack the process at the expense of the others.

Awka, Jan. 30, 2021 Two chieftains of the Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra have predicted victory for the party in the November 6 governorship poll in the state.
Speaking in separate interviews with the Newsmen in Awka on Saturday, they said the party would prove its dominance of Anambra politics during the election.
The Managing Director of Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency, Chief Jude Emecheta, said APGA remained a mass movement of the people with an edge over the opposition parties.
He said the party was deeply on ground “because of how it has impacted on the lives of the people.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Niger State, Prof. Sam Egwu,
has observed that lack of internal democracy in political parties is retarding the growth of democracy in the country.
Egwu, who spoke in Minna ahead of the by bye-election for the Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency seat Saturday, lamented that most often political parties “handpicked” their candidates without recourse to members of the parties.
In addition, the REC regretted that in many of the parties, some people have hijacked the ownership, making those that are members valueless.
“Weakness of democracy still remains the weakness of political parties. Lack of capacities on the part of parties to properly scrutinise their candidates to ensure they respect their own constitution and by-laws is yet another problem.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has denied speculations that the Governor of Anambra State, Willy Obiano, was planning to join the All Progressive Congress.
There have been speculations that Obiano was plotting to dump APGA to join the APC in order to contest the Anambra North Senatorial Election in 2023.
Obiano, who was elected on the platform of APGA in 2014, would complete his constitutionally allowed two terms in office on March 17,2022.
The National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, in a statement, in Awka, on Tuesday said, “Every election season, the disgruntled opposition elements are known for being more desperate and resorting to all manners of blackmail in a condemnable bid to seize power from the ruling party.
