Montana added 177 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, while the number of people in the state considered to be fully vaccinated against the virus has surpassed 138,000.
Deaths in the state due to COVID-19 remained at 1,392, according to Montanaâs virus tracking and mapping website. Exactly one year has now passed since the first positive case in the state, and the number of active cases in Montana dropped below 1,000 this week for the first time since July.
The number of new cases and deaths related to COVID-19 nationwide is also on the decline following a surge during the first two months of 2021. Even with the drop in daily cases, the country is still averaging about 1,400 deaths a day, according to the Associated Press. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reporting just over 101,280,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered since December 2020, the nationwide death toll is now over 532,000.
