Reading Bakery Systems (RBS) launched the
customer-focused webinars in early 2020 when the pandemic cancelled face-to-face meetings and events.
The series of 18 seminars – which were conducted in five languages to accommodate customers around the globe – were an overwhelming success, prompting the company to restart the programme this year.
The first three seminars in the 2021 series have been scheduled. On 23 February, Jim Warren, VP, Exact Mixing at RBS, introduces cookie manufacturers to the latest technology for the continuous production of cookie dough.
Carlsberg launches low-carbon beer bottle Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company says it has reduced the carbon impact of glass bottles by 90% in a new bottle revealed today.
The company has partnered with glass bottle supplier Encirc to put 1 million bottles in circulation in the UK with Carlsberg Danish Pilsner.
The reduced carbon footprint of the bottles has been achieved thanks to switching the glass furnace to biogas, a renewable fuel made from waste organic materials. Recycled content in the glass was able to be increased up to 100%.
CMBC says the bottle shows the potential to transform the bottle from the highest-carbon-impact packaging type to the lowest. Glass bottles currently account for around 10% of the total emissions across the value chain for the company.
EcoTensil launches AquaDot range of plastic-free paperboard cutlery In advance of European legislation banning single-use plastic items such as cutlery, plates and straws by July 2021, California-based EcoTensil has introduced the AquaDot range of plastic-free, extra sturdy, folding paperboard cutlery.
Since 2010, the company has sold hundreds of millions of units globally, including to some of Europe’s largest food manufacturers and retailers. EcoTensil has begun the full European launch of its plastic-free AquaDot cutlery including designs specific for to-go packaging.
EcoTensil said its plastic-free AquaDot folding EcoSpoon is a ready replacement for plastic. It added that it works seamlessly with many existing packages and processes and has a more positive impact on the taste of food than wooden cutlery.
Coca-Cola launches paper bottle trial in Hungary Coca-Cola plant-based drink, AdeZ, will roll out 2,000 bottles of its paper prototype: marking the first market test for the innovation.
The paper bottle prototype design was unveiled last year; and will move into a market trial with the dairy-free smoothie brand this summer to see how the packaging performs and how consumers react.
The technology aims to create 100% recyclable bottles made of sustainably-sourced wood with a bio-based material barrier suitable for liquid goods, such as carbonated and still drinks.
The
current prototype consists of a paper shell with an rPET recyclable lining and cap. Ultimately, the goal is to develop a bottle without the plastic liner that can be recycled in the same way as paper.
