PM Modi To Release Rs 19,000 Crore To Over 9.5 Crore Beneficiary Farmer Families Under PM-KISAN Scheme Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the eighth instalment of financial benefit under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme at 11 am today (14 May) via video conferencing.
This will enable the transfer of more than Rs 19,000 crore to more than 9.5 crores beneficiary farmer families.
Prime Minister will also interact with farmer beneficiaries during the event. Union Agriculture Minister will also be present on the occasion, the Prime Minister s Office (PMO) said in a statement.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal quarter-monthly installments of Rs 2,000 each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured that ₹ 20,667.75 crore was deposited in the accounts of 9,50,67,601 crore farmers across the country. While for many of them this was eighth instalment of PM-Kisan scheme; for over 20 lakh farmers from West Bengal, who recently joined the scheme, this was the very first instalment of ₹2,000, which would be paid in every four months of a year.

New Delhi [India], May 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the eighth installment of the financial benefit of over Rs 20,667 crores to more than 9.50 crores beneficiary farmers under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Friday.
Prime Minister interacted with beneficiary farmers during the event via video conferencing. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, For the first time, the farmers of West Bengal would be getting the benefit of this scheme. The government is setting new records in procurement at MSP every year. Paddy procurement at MSP had set new records and now wheat procurement at MSP is also setting new records. A deposit of Rs2,000 each to the bank accounts of farmers on Friday marked the release of the 8th installment of over Rs19,000 crore to some 9.5 crore small and marginal farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
The scheme, as launched by then interim finance minister Piyush Goyal in the Lok Sabha poll year in the 2019 interim budget of providing 3 installments of Rs2,000 each to 12 crore farm families, was delayed this time because of the Assembly polls in April.
The scheme of cash benefit of Rs6,000 per annum in 3 equal installments was brought as a counter to the Congress harping since then on a dole of Rs6,000 a month to 20% of the poorest poor.
