Plymouth MP Johnny Mercer says he will retire from political life once Plymouth gets a state-of-the-art new Emergency Department and an all-new Derriford Hospital.
The Moor View parliamentarian s comments come amid the publication of a damning report from the CQC into Derriford Hospital s ED, which ordered Plymouth University Hospitals NHS Trust to make urgent improvements following an inspection in March.
Mr Mercer said it was imperative Plymouth got the health infrastructure improvements it desperately needs and says he will stand down once his bid to bolster the NHS in the city comes to fruitition.
