Man charged with assault on woman and abusing shop worker

A man is set to appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Saturday (March 13) charged with attacking a woman in a city street and abusing a female shop worker.
Jamie Hartill was arrested by police in the early hours of Friday morning following an incident in Mayflower Street.
The incident was spotted by a council CCTV controller who alerted police who arrived two minutes later.
The woman in her early 20s was walking past the entrance of the Mayflower Court House car park when she was allegedly assaulted by 25-year-old Hartill.

Play now A man has appeared in court charged with destroying seven cars after targeting a car dealership in Ham.
Stephen Ready, of Lancaster Gardens, Whitleigh, was arrested by police earlier this week following the incident at the Platinum Car Sales business in Ham Drive shortly after 1.20am on December 9 last year.
Fire crews from Crownhill, Camels Head and Greenbank were sent to the scene and found a number of vehicles alight. Examination of the scene by fire investigators determined the blaze was deliberately started.

A man is set to appear at court after police discovered suspected drugs and an imitation handgun at a Mutley property.
Officers carrying out a safeguarding check at a multi-occupancy house in Lisson Grove on Tuesday afternoon in relation to a Community Protection Notice Warning discovered a teenage boy as well as another house guest in a room with a third man.
Police told PlymouthLive they had received reports from concerned residents in the street about suspected vulnerable young people frequenting the property at the invitation of the tenants of the address as well as reports of possible drug activity at the same location.

Police have warned the public not to give money to a well-known homeless man who has been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order - because he has a place to live.
Paul Gargett - known to many Plymothians at Gadget - appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he was handed a two year order banning him from begging, asking or demanding money from members of the public anywhere within an area covering the city centre, North Hill and Mutley.
