Aiden Turso, of Scotch Plains, was charged with two counts of third-degree failure to provide necessary care to an animal, leading to its death; two counts of fourth-degree animal cruelty offenses; and fourth-degree hindering apprehension.

A Union County man faces animal cruelty charges following the deaths of a dog and cat and the alleged neglect of another animal, officials said.
Aiden R. Turso, 19, of Scotch Plains, is charged with two counts of fourth-degree animal cruelty, two counts of fourth-degree failure to provide care to an animal, and fourth-degree hindering apprehension, according to detectives.
The investigation began on Nov. 3, 2020, when Plainfield police officers found the body of a severely emaciated pit bull inside a plastic bag that had been dumped on Rock Road, according to acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo.
