A new law in Missoula County might help write the future of cryptocurrency regulation in the U.S. In February, county officials adopted what they believe to be the first permanent zoning policy for cryptocurrency mining operations, which requires them to generate renewable energy and stay clear of residential areas.
Jason Vaughan used to be the site manager for Hyperblock, a Bitcoin mining company in Bonner, MT that closed last year. He says walking into the 250,000 square-foot building was almost like stepping into a giant erector set.
“Most of it’s, you know, steel and metal. There s a lot of noise from the fans of all the machines and whatnot, but there’s just likehere s hundreds of thousands of little blinking lights and whatnot.”

MISSOULA â Despite the pandemic and its economic toll, downtown Missoula saw twice as many new businesses open than close in 2020, and it saw tens of millions of dollars in new private investment.
It also saw a number of proposals identified in the new Downtown Master Plan begin, including a capital campaign for improvements to Caras Park, a study of downtown alleys, and the makings of a new heritage trail focused on the areaâs history.
RSID to upgrade North Havre lift station

Rural Special Improvement District 21 is moving ahead with a project located in the 100-year floodplain and wetland in North Havre after a public meeting Tuesday night. The project involves upgrading the RSID’s existing and outdated submersible type lift station in the line that is connected to the wastewater treatment plant. A packaged submersible lift station will be constructed with an above-ground enclosure for controls and an area for a backup generator enclosed in new security fencing. “We did another lift station earlier, four or five years ago and when we moved into this one, to do the upgrade as far as the underground under the river pipeline, it went to the wastewater plant, a lot of that plumbing just fell apart,” Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said.
