BHUBANESWAR: Voluntary organisations and individuals have extended helping hand to a dalit girl Loji Behera from Puri district after knowing that she is working as a labourer under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) project to fund her pending dues of a private engineering college in Khurda district.
Behera, a native of Chainpur village under Delang block in Puri district, has completed her diploma in civil engineering in 2019 from a private engineering college at Khurda. She could not bring her certificate after she failed to pay the pending dues. She not only faces problems to get a job but also fails to take admission in B Tech.

The Chief Justice of India, while hearing a bunch of petitions on the new farm laws, asked, “Why are women and elders kept in the protest?” He was referring to their presence in the agitations against the new farm laws and he went on to ask them to leave the protest sites. This paternalistic outlook not only denies women the agency to protest, it also erases the crucial role of women in the agriculture workforce, an erasure that is mirrored in official recognition, data and policies.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], January 19 (ANI): In a move to encourage employment opportunities, Uttarakhand Government has announced that the number of working days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) will be increased from 100 to 150, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said on Monday.
While addressing the gathering at his office, Rawat said that government will increase the number of working days from 100 to 150 under MGNREGA and the entire cost will be borne by the state government.
This decision was taken during a meeting of the State Employment Guarantee Council held on Monday.
Job Card, and Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs.
In addition to these, PAN Card, Passbooks issued by Bank/Post Office, Passport, Pension Document, Service Identity Card with photograph issued to employees by Central/ State Govt./ PSUs/Public Limited Companies, Voter ID, and Smart card issued by RGI under NPR can also be produced.
