The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday approved the draft of a bill to enact a stringent law on the lines of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) to combat land mafia, mining mafia and organised crime, even as the opposition termed it as a fascist bill .

AAA Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked against criminal Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi, who has several heinous cases registered against him.
He had fled police custody in 2020. Jathedi and his gang members are involved in over 25 cases of murder in different States, the police said, adding that he is suspected to have fled the country.

Jathedi is said to be a close accomplice of Sonu Mahal who was allegedly thrashed along with Sagar Dhankar in north-west Delhi’s Chhtrasal Stadium leading to Sagar’s murder.
Mumbai Police Crime Branch files charge sheet against gangster Ravi Pujari in Gajalee firing case
The crime branch of the city police has submitted a supplementary chargesheet against former gangster Ravi Pujari on Thursday in the Gajalee Restaurant firing case, as the prime accused at whose behest the offence was committed.
It the first case in which the Mumbai Police had secured his custody in February this year for a probe after his extradition from Senegal last year. Pujariâs advocate Devanand Manerkar said the chargesheet has relied on a confessional statement recorded under a provision of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) of a co-accused Vitthal Pujari. The co-accused had revealed Ravi Pujariâs role in the crime.

Police inspector Daya Nayak, known as an encounter specialist , was on Thursday transferred out of Mumbai to Gondia district in eastern Maharashtra.
The order signed by the Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Kulwant Singh Sarangal stated that Nayak was transferred to Gondia on administrative grounds.
Days after a man brutally stabbed his wife in Delhi, another man shot his pregnant wife dead in south-east Nizamuddin. The woman, who was pregnant with twins, was released on bail around three days ago in relation to a drugs case.
The man allegedly shot his wife dead outside their residence on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Saina. Saina’s domestic help Shahdat was also shot during the incident. The man, however, is likely to survive. The accused was identified as Waseem.
The entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera. In the footage, the man could be seen firing around a dozen rounds at Saina as she sat outside their house on a chair.
