MUMBAI: Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 15,169 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 57,76,184, and 285 fresh deaths and also added 268 previously unreported fatalities, the state health department said.
The statewide toll rose to 96,751, it said.
The new cases were higher than 14,123 infections registered on Tuesday.
Recoveries far exceeded new infections.
As many as 29,270 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases to 54,60,589, a statement from the health department said.
The state now has 2,16,016 active cases, it said.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Covid-19 fatalities continued to shoot up even as new infections registered a drop while the Mumbai death toll crossed the 14K-mark, health officials said here on Thursday.
Compared with 816 deaths on
Wednesday, the state s fatalities again shot up to touch 850 on Thursday - compared with the peak 1,035 deaths (April 28) - pulling up the toll from 78,007 to 78,857 now, the worst in the country.
The number of new infections remained below the 50K-level, and dropped from 46,781 to 42,582, although lower than the record high of 68,631 (April 18), and the state tally catapulted from from 52,26,710 to 52,62,292 now.

Mumbai: Maharashtra s Covid-19 fatalities dropped on Thursday but remained above the 800 level while the toll crossed the 73,000 mark and the state case tally hovered below the 5 million mark, although the Mumbai situation remained tolerable, health officials said.
As against 920 deaths on Wednesday, the state saw fatalities at 853, taking the toll to 73,515.
The number of new infections again surpassed the 60,000 level, at 62,194, and the state tally rose to 49,42,736.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra on Friday reported 63,729 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest single-day count so far, taking the tally past the 37-lakh mark, while 398 more patients succumbed to the infection, said a health department official.
With 63,729 Covid new cases, the tally increased to 37,03,584, while 398 fatalities pushed the toll to 59,551, he said.
The state s earlier highest one-day case count was 63,294, recorded on April 11, followed by 61,695 on April 15.
Maharashtra becomes first state to administer over 8 lakh COVID-19 vaccines

Maharashtra has become the first state in
India to cross the landmark 8,00,000 vaccination jabs from January 16 till date, according to official data released here on Tuesday.
The state which has the highest number of corona cases and fatalities has achieved a total vaccination of 81,27,248, including 72,98,206 people who have taken their first jab and 8,29,042 second dose.
Next on the list are Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal with the maximum number of people given the jabs till now.
Gujarat has notched a total 76,89,507 (68,17,703 first dose and 8,71,804 second dose), Rajasthan tally is 72,99,305 (64,00,581 and 8,98,724).
