Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated efforts taken by the Maharashtra govt The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) continues to receive applause for its efforts to control the second wave of Covid-19 in Mumbai city.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the Executive Chairperson of Biocon Ltd, tweeted on Monday, “I just studied the Maharashtra and BMC model of decentralised Covid management n super impressed with it’s uniquely thought out processes Kudos to @OfficeofUT n @mybmc n its dynamic Iqbal Singh Chahal.The whole country should follow these COVID beating methods.” Earlier NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said in a tweet, “Centralised bed allotment, anticipating oxygen storage facilities, common allotment of beds even in pvt hospitals, dashboards for monitoring, war rooms for patient follow up. Inspirational Mumbai model of Covid Mngmnt. Congrats @mybmc Commissioner Chahal & his Gr8 team”.

Mumbai, May 10 : The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) has decided to write to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal to set up vaccination centres for all its members and producers on priority.
A statement released by IMPPA president TP Aggarwal reads: The lockdown last year was a very big blow for all our producer members and they were having hardships in surviving in view of which IMPPA through its IMPPA Welfare Trust provided emergency financial relief to all members directly in their bank accounts on 3 occasions May, June and July 2020. Now the situation after Lockdown 2 has become more serious due to all opportunities of work and income being closed and
BMC dismisses data fudging charges as Mumbai s COVID graph continues downward trend
In a statement issued on Sunday, the BMC said it was completely transparent in reporting the number of COVID-19 fatalities and cases, and in conducting the tests.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai civic body has denied allegations of suppressing the COVID-19 death and infection figures and said it was recording the number of fatalities as per protocols laid down by the WHO and ICMR.
BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is exploring a global tender for vaccines and is devising a procedure to enable non-tech savvy citizens to register for Covid-19 vaccination, environment and tourism minister Aditya Thackeray said on Monday. The corporation also plans to set up vaccination centres in each of 24 municipal wards and has also issued vaccination guidelines for housing societies. Thackeray said the government has asked the civic body to explore a global tender for Covid-19 vaccines. Our efforts to increase vaccination centres are constantly ongoing and the @mybmc shall be having a centre in every municipal ward, along with a drive-in vaccination centre across all zones of Mumbai, he added.
