Union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday attacked Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on the issue of availability of oxygen in the state, saying that Maharashtra has so far received the highest quantity of oxygen in India and the Centre is in regular touch with state governments to assess their needs. Maharashtra is suffering from an inept and corrupt government and the Centre is doing its best for the people. People of Maharashtra are following Majha Kutumb, Majhi Javabadari dutifully. It is time the CM (chief minister) also follows his duties in the spirit of Majha Rajya, Majhi Javabadari , the commerce and industry minister said.

Piyush Goyal in his tweets asks Thackeray to follow his duties
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that he has been trying to contact Prime Minister Narendra Modi since Friday evening to inform him about the need for oxygen to treat Covid-19 patients in Maharashtra, but was not able to speak to him because Prime Minister was “ busy” in the West Bengal elections.
The press statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office said that CM Thackeray held discussions with industrialists to tackle Covid-19 situation and during the discussion he gave this information.
The press release added, “ State needs oxygen and all oxygen produced is being used for medical purpose. Considering the number of patients there is a need for more oxygen and I have informed PM about this. Prime Minister too busy with Bengal election campaign, Maharahstra Chief Minister told. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reportedly tried to speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 17 about the severe oxygen shortage in the State, but could not get through, because the latter was campaigning in West Bengal, sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
