Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday hit out at BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government for deliberately changing the name of the disputed Belagavi district to Belgaum. The CM said his government would move the Supreme Court and urge it to declare the disputed area as a Union Territory as long the case is in court.
The Maharashtra CM held a meeting with the High Power Committee constituted for the border dispute with Karnataka.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar will take part in the protest to be staged in Mumbai today in support of farmers protesting against Centre’s three new farm laws at various borders in the national capital.
Thousands of farmers, who have been camping at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, will march to Raj Bhavan to register their protest against the farm’s laws. The march is part of the agitation being undertaken under the banner of Samyukt Shetkari Kamgar Morcha (SSKM) and aims to intensify the farmers’ struggle in the main capital cities across all states.

With 3,419 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,06,827. Mumbai continues to be a major novel coronavirus hotspot with 482 new cases recorded in the day.
50 deaths 10 from Kalyan-Dombivali, 9 from Mumbai, 5 from Thane, 4 from Jalgaon, three each from Jalna, Nashik and Ahmednagar, two each from Pimpri Chinchwad and Satara and one each from Nagpur, Buldhana, Amravati, Beed, Parbhani, Sangli, Pune and Raigad were reported on Friday. Bengaluru: A political controversy has erupted over Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray s statement on the sensitive border issues with Karnataka with many political leaders of the southern state slamming him for his comment.
Condemning Thackeray s statement, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar said that “not an inch of Karnataka s land can go to Maharashtra”.
