Project material lying on footpath on Vanaz-Ramwadi route puts lives of pedestrians, cyclists at risk
Though Metro work is going at its own pace, the material used for the project is kept lying on the footpath making it risky for pedestrians to use the footpath on
Vanaz to Ramwadi route. To find a solution to this and other issues related to work, the
Pune Municipal Corporation’s (
MahaMetro) officials and proposed some recommendations.
Head of the cell and PMC additional commissioner (estates) Kunal Khemnar, road department officials, DCP traffic and NGOs working for cyclists and pedestrians were present for the meet at the PMC office. The meeting was in regards to issues related to roads and footpaths on the Vanaz to Ramwadi Metro route.

The patch at the old Mumbai-Pune highway where metro work is in progress has become a risky affair. Within a week, two cases of falling blocks were reported at Phugewadi and Morwadi. Fortunately, no one was injured, but a car was damaged.
In both incidents, commuters had a narrow escape after concrete blocks of the
Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (
MahaMetro) fell on the busy highway. One incident was reported on June 21, and the second on June 25.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a $182m (€150m) finance contract with the Indian Government for the Pune Metro Rail project’s second portion in Maharashtra through a virtual signing ceremony.

The contract was signed between EIB vice-president Christian Kettel Thomsen and the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Indian Government.
The funds will be utilised for carrying out the construction and operation of Corridor 1 (North-South) from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate, as well as Corridor 2 (West-East) from Vanaz to Ramwadi.
