SC declines interim protection from arrest to makers, actors of web series Tandav

Supreme Court on Wednesday, turned down their pleas for protection from arrest.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan only issued a notice on clubbing of various FIRs registered across the country and asked actor Zeeshan Ayyub and others to move to High Courts for quashing of FIRs or bail in the matters.
Senior Advocate Fali S. Nariman requested an order of no coercive action against the cast and producers of the web series. However, the bench refused to grant relief. Approach High Court, said the top court.

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], January 26 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday launched a jail tourism initiative of the state government from Pune s Yerawada prison, in a move to help students learn about historical experiences.
The initiative was launched via an online event. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other top officials were physically present at the Yerawada jail.
During the launch event, Uddhav Thackeray spoke about several freedom fighters who spent a jail term in the Yerwada jail in Pune.
He also remembered the day when he used to visit the jail with his mother when his father late Balasaheb Thackeray was imprisoned here.

Pune : , Jan 23 (IANS) Marking a new chapter for tourists, the Maharashtra government will throw open important prisons in the state for jail tourism , starting this Republic Day on January 26 with the historic 150-year-old Yerwada Central Jail in Pune.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate the initiative on Republic Day in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other top officials, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh announced on Saturday. This is the first phase of jail tourism Later, it will be extended to other prisons like Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Ratnagiri, etc. A small fee of Rs 5 for school students, Rs 10 for collegians and Rs 50 for general tourists shall be levied, Deshmukh said.

Ten newborn babies, admitted in the Special Newborn Care Unit of the Bhandara district hospital had died while seven others were rescued.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Saturday said the forensic report into the January 9 Bhandara hospital fire, in which 10 infants were killed, is expected soon and if anybody is found guilty of negligence in the incident, a case would be filed against them. Ten newborn babies, admitted in the Special Newborn Care Unit of the Bhandara district hospital had died while seven others were rescued.
