Mumbai: In another dramatic development in extortion row involving former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze on Wednesday alleged that Deshmukh had demanded Rs 2 crore from him to ensure that he remains in service.
Waze, now suspended for his alleged role in the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren death case, was reinstated in the Crime Intelligence Unit in June last year. He was placed under suspension since March 2004 over his role in the custodial death of a 2002 Ghatkopar blast suspect Khwaja Yunus.
