A Mackay councillor has called out the âfarcicalâ safety conditions of a stretch penned to become a tourist highway for the Pioneer Valley.
Councillor Martin Bella said many guard rails on the range along Mackay Eungella Road were still damaged from the 2018 bushfires, creating a dangerous situation for road users travelling up and down the mountain, especially when cloaked with fog.
âThe fact that it is to become the tourist hub that we expect, our chances of an absolute disaster are actually quite strong at the moment,â Cr Bella said at the councilâs ordinary meeting.
âTo be perfectly honest, conditions on that range are farcical.
