The first was for the general municipal election in March, which seemed to settle all but two races – the council seats for districts 1 and 6 – for which a runoff election was called. But on Tuesday, the Tuscaloosa City Council officially called for a third one – a special election for District 7 – because the top vote-getter in the March general election was declared ineligible to hold office by a state court judge.

Fatal crash: Tuscaloosa five-vehicle accident kills one, injures trooper AL.com 5/11/2021 Greg Garrison, al.com A five-car crash in Tuscaloosa on Sunday morning left one person dead and injured an off-duty Alabama State Trooper, Tuscaloosa police said. The accident happened at the intersection of McFarland Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway at about 9:35 a.m. A state trooper was one of the drivers involved and is being treated for a minor injury, police said. Tuscaloosa’s Accident Reconstruction Unit was on the scene Sunday afternoon and police asked travelers to avoid the area. At 4:30 p.m., Tuscaloosa Police announced that the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken over the investigation.

One person killed, State Trooper injured in Tuscaloosa multi-vehicle crash

Updated: 11:32 AM CDT May 10, 2021 WVTM 13 Digital One man was killed and an Alabama State Trooper was injured in a crash in Tuscaloosa Sunday morning. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the state trooper s Ford Explorer SUV struck a Jeep Cherokee on McFarland Boulevard at about 9:35 a.m. The driver of the Jeep 47-year-old Jose Angel Guerrero of Tuscaloosa was pronounced dead at the scene.The trooper was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. Three other vehicles were involved after the initial collision, ALEA said in a news release.The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
