UPDATE: Killeen man dies of COVID-19 as incidence rate remains level

The incidence rate of COVID-19 cases in the county remained mostly level Monday despite one new death, according to the Bell County Public Health District. Dr. Amanda Robison-Chadwell, director of the district, said the incidence rate only went up slightly to 84.6 cases per 100,000 people. The previous rate — last recorded on Thursday — was 81 cases per 100,000 people. “We added one additional death for a new total of 422,” Robison-Chadwell said. “The new death was for a man in his 50s in Killeen.” The county currently has 307 active cases of the virus for a total of 21,952 cases and 21,223 recoveries. The district also reported the county now has 294 active cases of the virus. “Our incidence rate flexed up a little bit but slight up and down shifts are expected day to day,” Robison-Chadwell said. Robison-Chadwell said the county did not add any new deaths Thursday, meaning the total number of deaths due to the virus remains at 421. Overall, the county has seen a total of 21,852 cases of the virus and has had 21,137 recoveries.

7 new Bell County coronavirus deaths bring toll to 420

The Bell County Public Health District reported seven new deaths from COVID-19 Monday, including a local woman in her 20s. Dr. Amanda Robison-Chadwell, director of the district, said the county last updated its dashboard on Thursday and has since seen the incidence rate drop to 81 cases per 100,000 people. The county currently has 294 active cases of COVID-19. “We unfortunately do have 7 deaths to add since our last update on Thursday last week for a new total of 420,” Robison-Chadwell said. The deaths include two men in their 80s from Temple, a woman in her 70s from Belton, a woman in her 20s from Harker Heights, a woman in her 80s from Bell County and two women in their 60s from Killeen.
