Restaurants, bars, and food carts will soon be able to sign up for additional pandemic relief under a federal program aimed to keep hard-hit small businesses afloat.
The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Saturday that the $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund will allow establishments to apply for up to $10 million in cash per business, including up to $5 million per location. With the launch of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, we’re prioritizing funding to the hardest-hit small businesses irreplaceable gathering places in our neighborhoods and communities that need a lifeline now to get back on their feet, the federal agency s administrator, Isabella Casillas Guzman, said in a statement.

Restaurant owners in the coming weeks will be able to apply for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, set up with $28.6 billion from the American Rescue Plan, but the Small Business Administration wants to make sure that it reaches a diverse population of business owners.
Groundwork for the application launch a date hasn t yet been set is being rolled out in order to increase outreach and training and make sure there aren t technical issues.
The SBA said that the preparation period is an effort to reach out to diverse stakeholders in order to make sure the organization, which is administering the program, understands the needs and barriers restaurants face in accessing emergency relief. Access for historically overlooked groups was a problem with last year s Payroll Protection Program.

Do you drink “craft” beer? Does it matter if you do?
The reason I put the word “craft” in quotation marks is that the term “craft beer” has several definitions, depending on who you ask.
There is the hardline business definition as dictated by the Brewers Association. This one is necessary for legal and other practices. It’s a fair definition and serves a solid purpose.
However, a recent report from the association gave me pause. Not because of anything incorrect in it, but rather the way certain bits of information hit me. The report featured several charts about the best-selling beers in the U.S., one about the best-selling overall breweries and one specifically about craft breweries.
