It finds fault with misrepresentation of religion
Misrepresentation regarding the religion would be a misrepresentation regarding a material fact and would affect the very validity of the marriage, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court observed while allowing the petition filed by a man who sought the declaration that the marriage between him and a woman null and void.
The court was hearing the petition filed by P. Sivakumar of Nagercoil who sought a direction to declare the marriage between him and one S. Beula null and void. The petitioner said that the woman’s family had represented themselves as Hindus. But, the educational institution records of the woman showed that she was a Christian.

Two judges of the Madras High Court on Thursday delivered a split verdict on whether Milk and Dairy Development Minister K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji must be booked on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Justice M. Sathyanarayanan eschewed a preliminary inquiry report giving him a clean chit, filed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption and insisted on registering an FIR against the Minister to conduct a full-fledged investigation. However, Justice R. Hemalatha differed with him and ordered that there was no need to do so after the State government had accepted the preliminary report and dropped further proceedings in the matter.

The State on Wednesday informed the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that it has granted permission for the rath yatra in Madurai to collect funds for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, U.P. It was submitted that permission was granted for three days with reasonable restrictions.
A Division Bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and S. Ananthi was informed by the State that the rath yatra would be permitted in the time slots of 9 a.m to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. from March 4 to 6.
