Cumberland County could keep 70 jobs and add 75 more if economic development incentives approved by county commissioners Monday entice one company to expand and another to build a production facility here.
The commissioners unanimously approved the incentives Monday, according to a statement released by county officials. Robert Van Geons, president of the Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation presented the two incentive proposals during two public hearings at the commissioners’ meeting.
One proposal is for Cargill, which processes soybeans at its plant on River Road. The other is for an unnamed company that is considering a building in east Fayetteville for a new production facility.
