In a significant development, the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday (December 16) approved the proposal to set up a new National Security Directive on telecommunication sector which will help in classifying telecom products and their sources under the ‘trusted’ and ‘non-trusted’ categories. It is expected that the Centre s decision would make it tougher for Huawei, ZTE and another Chinese companies to supply equipment to Indian telecom players.
