A non-profit organization offering mental wellness supports for youth in Yarmouth will now be supported by government to purchase the building they are currently renting.
Today, April 15, Health and Wellness Minister Zach Churchill announced $125,000 for the Aidaen Mae Fund, known as Aidaen’s Place, in Yarmouth.
“Mental health isn’t just about getting treatment in a hospital or medical clinic. It’s also about meeting people where they’re at and creating local solutions,” said Mr. Churchill. “Community support is vital for Nova Scotia youth who are facing challenges. Investing in an organization that provides a safe place for youth to drop-in, feel supported and be heard is great news for the community and the clients they serve.”

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. A Cape Breton man has completed an exhausting physical challenge to raise awareness for mental health. Kenzie MacDonald ran four miles (6.4 kilometres), every four hours for two days. “One of the hardest things I ve ever done,” says MacDonald. It’s a challenge created by former U.S. Navy Seal and motivational figure David Goggins. It s meant to test people physically and mentally. “I d go down for a 40 minute nap, then have to wake up and go for a run at two in the morning and it was very, very difficult,” says MacDonald. MacDonald took on the challenge as a way to raise awareness for mental health, a cause close to his heart.
