Half of U.S. states have fully vaccinated at least 50% of adults, CDC says Nelson Oliveira May 24, 2021, 8:07 AM Five months after a New York City nurse became the first person in America to get a coronavirus shot, at least 25 states are now reporting that more than half of their adult population has been fully vaccinated a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19. Data published Sunday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Washington, D.C. has also fully vaccinated at least 50% of people 18 or older and that Maine’s 62.9% rate of fully vaccinated adults is the highest in the country. Connecticut and Vermont are right behind Maine in the vaccination race, with 62.8% and 62.7%, respectively.

As more smaller vaccination sites become available and interest in the vaccine wanes, several counties are making plans to scale back their vaccination sites. Hillsborough County announced that the University Mall testing site is closing as of Friday, May 21, as County Emergency Management Director Tim Dudley cited a downward trend in the county s positivity rate and number of cases to county commissioners during a May 19 board meeting. The testing site at the Lee Davis Community Resource Center, 3402 N. 22nd St., is scheduled to close June 30.

Patients who receive their first dose at this event, will receive their second dose at Tom Bennett Park, at 280 Kay Road, on Wednesday, May 19. Manatee County’s Public Safety Center vaccine site is continuing to administer second doses, but will close once all second doses are completed on Friday, April 30.

Manatee County sees ‘light at end of the tunnel’ after vaccinating more than 50,000 people Kimberly Kuizon reports.  BRADENTON, Fla. - Fifty thousand people have been given a sense of relief in the form of a COVID-19 vaccine in Manatee County.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel, even my group is starting to see it. How quick we are moving through that vaccine waiting pool, said Jacob Saur.  At Tom Bennett Park, Public Safety Director Jacob Saur said he s proud of the team s non-stop efforts.  You really don’t see many drive-through sites that can put out that many unless you’re talking about a large FEMA or drive-through site, he said.
